In Tierras Altas, many residents miss out on valuable job opportunities simply because they are not bilingual. The lack of English language skills limits access to better employment, tourism-related work, and international connections—making English education a vital tool for the community’s growth.
That’s why initiatives like the Teaching Center English Group play such a crucial role in Tierras Altas. Our mission is to reach as many children as possible from local communities with limited resources, giving them access to high-quality education not only in English but also in other essential areas that foster personal growth, skills development, and future opportunities.
Students enrolled under this program receive a full scholarship that covers 100% of their course fees. This means parents only need to ensure their children attend classes, while the students focus on learning stress-free. Our courses and workshops range from two weeks up to a year and a half, designed to make quality education accessible to everyone in the community.
With quality education you can change a child’s life, since it reinforces the knowledge acquired in school, they get better grades and it encourages them to go on. In the long run, this will impact their career, their economy, both of their community and their future and the one of his/her family. We are creating better human beings for the community of Tierras Altas.

We offer workshops and short courses starting from one week, focused on specific, high-impact topics. These programs often include guided tours that immerse participants in real-life experiences, helping them explore areas of interest within our community while learning through hands-on, practical engagement.
The Teaching Center offers four comfortable cabins, fully equipped and ready to welcome both local and foreign students, as well as passionate volunteers eager to share their knowledge, teach English, and support the community. Here, you can immerse yourself in the history, flora, and fauna of our beautiful region, with the comfort of staying more than just a day.
We can host up to 23 guests in shared cabins, each with its own kitchen. For those seeking a closer connection with nature, camping on our peaceful grounds is also available.
We proudly collaborate with certified Tourist Guides accredited by the Tourism Authority of Panama, whose deep expertise brings to life the wonders of our land, including the breathtaking Volcán Barú. Our dedicated teachers, graduates in their specialized fields—such as English, tourism, and more—help make every stay a rich and inspiring educational tourism experience.
